Biography
Aaron "Double A" Rubin
Aaron “Double A” Rubin began playing drums in 1981.
This was his second instrument. He
played clarinet in his school band in the Washington, D.C. area, between the
ages of 7 and 11. However, he
always had his eyes on the drums and grew bored of the clarinet.
After working a summer job he saved some money and purchased his first
drum set. He learned by watching
drummers live, on M-TV and getting a few pointers from other drummers in
practice studios in New York City, where he spent some time during his youth.
“Double A” joined his first band in 1983,Goldfinger.
This was a Funk R&B band and was a great learning experience.
Particularly because the other members were 10-15 years older than him.
Throughout High School he played with various bands and sat in numerous
jamming sessions performing mostly Rock N’ Roll.
In 1990 he moved to Richmond, VA to attend college at
Virginia Commonwealth University. It
just so happens that Richmond had a great Blues scene.
It wasn’t long before he joined a band and ventured on to the Richmond
club circuit. He played with a few
bands and jammed with many of the local musicians up until he finished school in
1994.
After college “Double A” moved to South Florida where
he now resides. He has been in
several bands and performs in the robust South Florida club scene which includes
West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, and The Keys.
He continues to perform regularly with bands and is sought after for fill-in
work and projects. His styles
include Blues, R & B, Jazz, Motown, New Rock & Classic Rock.
